In line with our insistent support for women’s rights as it inspires much of our editorial voice at ARTISH, this week’s edition of alt. mondays is titled ‘#PrettyLittleLiars. Featuring brutally honest new music from Summer Walker, 234Jaydaa, Bree Runway, SGawD, and some sleeper bangers, from Niniola, Hayley Williams and Jhene Aiko, as an ode to the imperfections, sensuality and femininity of womankind. Whether they fit into predisposed notions of societal expectations or not, in the continued fight for equality, all these personality nuances need to be acknowledged. Not only to ensure society doesn’t continue to normatively model women as infallible, decorative objects of desire who exist for the fulfillment of but the male ego, but perhaps also as a confirmation for all the shared quirks that make us all fundamentally human, regardless of gender.
